- DEEYAH was born in Oslo Norway to immigrant parents.
- DEEYAH's parents are both Sunni Muslims, her father's background is Pakistani and her mother's is Afghan and Persian.
(It has been known in the Norwegian media about Deeyah's Muslim heritage from when she first appeared in the public eye at age 8)
- DEEYAH's birth name is Deepika. The name was chosen by a Hindu woman who looked after Deeyah's mother during her pregnancy with Deeyah.
- DEEYAH trained under under gurus Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Sultan Khan.
(according to Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Deeyah is one of his most favorite students. in his own words he is quoted as saying "despite her being a girl and despite being born in the West she posses as much if not more talent, passion for music and dicipline than any male student I have ever taught")
- DEEYAH released her first album in Norway at the age of 15.
- DEEYAH has had label deals with BMG and Warner Brothers Music in the past.
- DEEYAH has received various awards and acclaim in Norway for being a culture bridging artist who's work has helped promote understanding and tolerance.- DEEYAH's friend and manager Steven Fargnoli (who also managed Prince) died in 2001.
- DEEYAH was dubbed the Muslim Madonna by the UK media.
- DEEYAH is currently recording her NEW album with acclaimed producer Darin Prindle whose credits include Cypress Hill, Madonna, Sinéad O'Connor.
